President Obama Talks About His Plan To Address The Unrest In Iraq
The United States has been slow to confirm how they plan to address the militants in Iraq. On Thursday, June 19 2014, President Barack Obama spoke about what he plans to do regarding involving the U.S. in Iraq's affairs.
He's endorsing sending military advisers to Iraq, and refraining from assigning the U.S. military to a combat roles in the country. The Pentagon earlier presented Obama with a plan to send up to 100 special forces advisers to Iraq to work along with that country’s military, several U.S. officials told CNN on Thursday.
The U.S. withdrew its final troops from Iraq at the end of 2011, nearly nine years after leading the invasion of Iraq that toppled longtime leader Saddam Hussein.
