Declaring his plan to “Rebuild the American Dream,” O’Malley told a crowd of several hundred in Baltimore, where he was once the mayor,
“I’m running for you. … My decision has been made. … I declare that I am a candidate for president of the United States.”
In a speech intended to appeal to progressives and other members of the Democratic left, O’Malley vowed to go after Wall Street “cheats” and others who have turned the economy “upside down” to their favor.
Outside of Maryland he remains largely unknown in a field dominated by Clinton. But then a whole lot of folks didn't know who Barack Obama was until 2008.
I wouldn't blow O'Malley off. He has managed to win two high level (Mayor and Govenor) positions in his march to the presidential challenge. If I were Hillary, I'd play him close. If not she could get slammed dunked out of a nomination.
