According to Huanqiu.com, the very large glass shoe you see in the photo is a new church built in Chiayi, Taiwan. It's reported that the "design" was chosen to attract women to the congregation's yard. The designers also hope the "building" will appeal to tourists.
The Daily Mail reports the building is made almost entirely out of glass (à la Cinderella's shoe), that it's 55 feet tall, 36 feet wide, and made of at least 320 pieces of glass.
Cost to bring the "pump" shaped church to fruition is said be around $686,000.00.
The uniquely shaped church is the creation of local government officials in the Southwest Coast National Scenic Area, a prominent tourist area in Taiwan,
Pan Tsuei-ping, the administration's recreation section manager, told the BBC that the church will not be used for regular services, but pre-wedding photo shoots and wedding ceremonies.
Now all somebody needs to do is build a tall and wide golden glass pole somewhere in the vicinity of the shoe church. The stripper pole church. Yeah I know - dude you're flirting with the fires of hell.
Anyway I'd like the shoe church better if it were a sling back.
I'll leave it at that.
