11-Year Old Lemonade Entrepreneur Lands a Multi-Million Dollar Deal With Whole Foods
Most of us that get stung by bees want nothing else to do with them and run away from them. Such was not the case with 11-year old Mikaila Ulmer of Austin Texas.
After getting two bee stings in one week at the age of 4, Mikaila started researching bees and learned that important to our ecosystem and they’re endangered.
Makaila decided to do something to help the bees out and make a little money too.
She came up with her own brand of lemonade based on her great grandmother's 1940 recipe. The kicker here is the flaxseed-based lemonade, named Me and The Bees is sweetened with honey from local bees.
After appearing on the hit ABC business investor show Shark Tank, Austin, the sixth grader came away from the meeting with a business deal worth 60k from FUBU legend Daymond John.
Next stop- upscale grocer Whole Foods. The pint -sized business person landed an $11 million deal and shelf space for her lemonade in 55 Whole Food stores in Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Louisiana. There's more.
She also has a deal with United Natural Foods to help expand her business.
As for those bees that got the whole ball rolling, her company's main priority, other than making delicious lemonade, is to help save the global bee population by utilizing honey as sweetener instead of sugar.
